Answers to common questions about Nightlight, the baby tracker for iPhone and iPad. Can't find what you need? Email support@apphunt.app.
Getting started
Add your baby's name and birthday, then log from the buttons at the bottom of Today. Expecting an invitation from your partner? Open their link on your iPhone and the shared journal appears; there's nothing else to set up.
Logging
- Breastfeeding: tap Left or Right to start the timer. Tap the other side to switch, Pause to pause, Done to save. The side you finished on is marked *last*.
- Bottle: choose breast milk, formula or both, and the amount in ml or oz. The last amount is ready next time.
- Sleep: tap Sleep when your baby falls asleep and Woke up when they wake.
- Diaper: wet, dirty or both; colour and a note are optional.
- More: pumping, solids, growth, temperature, medicine and notes.
- Forgot one? More → Add an earlier entry, or tap any entry to change its time.
Sharing with your family
Settings → Family and sharing → Invite someone opens the iCloud sharing sheet: send the link in Messages or any app. The person opens it on their iPhone, and from then on you both log into the same journal. Add Your name on entries (for example *Mom*) so everyone sees who logged what. The owner can remove people or stop sharing in the same place; a removed person no longer sees the journal.
Sync
Entries sync through iCloud, usually within a minute or so. iOS decides the exact moment; Low Power Mode, a weak connection or a full iCloud storage can delay it. The Family screen shows when the journal last synced.
Lock Screen, widgets, Control Center and Siri
- Live Activities: a running feed, sleep or pumping timer appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. If it doesn't, check Settings → Nightlight → Live Activities.
- Widgets: touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget, and choose Nightlight: *Since the last feed* or *Quick log*.
- Control Center: add the Breastfeed, Wet diaper and Sleep buttons from the Control Center editor.
- Siri: say "Start breastfeeding in Nightlight", "Log a diaper in Nightlight" or "The baby is asleep in Nightlight".
Reminders
Settings → Next feed reminder sends a notification a set time after the last feed started, whoever logged it.
Importing from another app
- Nara Baby: tap the profile picture next to your baby's name → Export Data, and save the CSV file to Files.
- Huckleberry: Child → Reports → Export tracking data as CSV; the file arrives by email; save it to Files.
- Nightlight: Settings → Export everything (CSV) makes a file you can import again later.
Then open Settings → Import, choose the file, check what was found and tap Import. Importing the same file twice doesn't create duplicates.
Reports and exports
Settings → Export everything (CSV) is free and includes every entry. The Report for the pediatrician (Premium) is a PDF with daily averages, growth, medicines and temperatures, then one line per day, in the language you choose.
Nightlight Premium
Premium adds trends over weeks, the next-nap estimate, growth over time and the PDF report: $29.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, $4.99 a month, or $49.99 once. Family Sharing is on, so one purchase covers your Apple family.
Restore a purchase
On a new device, tap Restore purchases in Settings or on the Premium screen, with the Apple Account you bought Nightlight Premium with.
Cancel a subscription
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions → Nightlight, and tap Cancel Subscription at least a day before it renews or the free trial ends. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. For a refund, contact Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Troubleshooting
- My partner doesn't see my entries: both iPhones need to be signed in to iCloud, with Nightlight allowed to use iCloud (Settings → your name → iCloud). Open the app on both and check the sync time on the Family screen.
- The invitation link doesn't open the journal: update both iPhones to the latest iOS and Nightlight, then open the link again from Messages.
- iCloud storage is full: the journal can't sync until there's space. Entries stay on the phone in the meantime.
- Signing out of iCloud: iOS removes the synced copy from the device. Export everything first.
- A timer doesn't show on the Lock Screen: allow Live Activities for Nightlight in Settings.
