Mute
Mute support
Updated September 20, 2026
Need a hand? Email support@apphunt.app and include “Mute” in the subject. Mute requires an iPhone with iOS 17.4 or later.
Start your first pause
- Open Today and choose Distractions or Essentials only, then a duration.
- Use the button inside the timer card. If it says Connect Screen Time, approve the system prompt.
- If an app list is missing, choose the apps to block or keep, then tap Done.
- Tap Start Mute when your selection is ready. Your mode and duration are remembered.
Choose distractions or essentials
For a few distracting apps, open Essentials → Choose distractions. Select apps or categories and tap Done. On Today, choose Distractions and start your pause.
For a broader pause, open Essentials → Choose essential apps. Expand categories with the arrows and choose individual apps to leave available. Then use Today → Essentials only → Start Mute. Check access to important apps before a long session.
Why does Essentials reject my selection?
Essentials is a list of exceptions. Whole categories and All Apps & Categories cannot be exceptions in this version. Select individual apps instead. iOS allows up to 50 app exceptions and 50 website exceptions. Read the essentials guide.
Why is an app still available?
- Check that Screen Time access is granted and a session or schedule is active.
- In Distractions mode, check that the app is in your distractions selection. Apps in Essentials remain available.
- In Essentials only mode, check that the app is not an exception.
- iOS determines which apps and websites support shielding. Simulator previews do not block apps.
Set up a schedule
Open Rhythm → Add a rhythm, name it and choose its times, starting days and mode. Turn on Enable schedule and save. Overnight schedules continue into the next day. Daily schedule times follow your iPhone’s time zone. See the schedule guide.
Antitoxic Time and travelling
In Rhythm, open Antitoxic Time. Search for your city by name, or optionally use current location, review the Friday-to-Saturday times and enable the weekly schedule. When travelling, update your location or city and check the time zone. See the weekly reset guide.
Stop every Mute restriction
Settings → Turn off all Mute restrictions ends the timer and disables schedules. End Mute on Today ends only the manual session; an overlapping schedule can continue to restrict apps. You can also revoke Screen Time permission in iOS Settings.
