10 Best Free Dog Whistle & Clicker Apps for iPhone
Updated October 1, 2026 · written by AppHunt
A phone makes a decent dog whistle and an excellent clicker, as long as you know what it is doing. It plays high tones up to about 20–22 kHz, not the silent ultrasound of a metal whistle, and what teaches a dog is the same signal every time, followed by a reward. Here are ten apps and what each one is good at.

Fluier
AppHunt partner · promo codeFluier is a whistle, a clicker and a coach in one. The whistle plays recall, stop and attention signals at any pitch up to 22 kHz; the clicker fires the instant you touch it; and twenty short, reward-based lessons walk you from charging the clicker to recall and tricks. No account, no ads.
Good for: Teaching recall with one consistent signal

iTrainer
A veteran whistle-and-clicker kit: tune the whistle's pitch, modulation and speed, switch to tones modeled on e-collar beeps, or pick one of five click sounds. Squeakers, 100-plus animal calls, your own recordings and training guides round it out, while widgets and an Apple Watch app keep the main sounds one tap away.
Good for: One app for whistle, clicker and squeaky-toy sounds
Keep in mind: Ad-supported; a $1.99 premium unlock removes the ads and adds extra features.

Dogo
A full training course that also carries a clicker and a choice of whistle sounds, so you can mark a good response the instant it happens. Pick from 100-plus video tricks or programs for recall, leash walking, potty training and more, then record an exam video for a Dogo trainer to review.
Good for: Structured lessons with a clicker and whistle built in
Keep in mind: Per the developer, you need a paid plan (monthly or yearly) once the 7-day trial is over.

Good for: Course-based training with a clicker and whistle on tap
Keep in mind: Premium opens the full course, trick and game library; trainer chat is a separate paid plan.

Dog Whistler
Around since 2009, this whistle lets you drag a slider or type an exact frequency, then choose a steady tone, short or long beeps, oscillating patterns or static. Tap the dog icon for a click. The developer also pitches it for hearing checks and pranks, and it can turn a pitch into a ringtone.
Good for: Dialing in an exact whistle frequency by number
Keep in mind: Last updated in 2024. Ringtone creation and a bonus pack are paid add-ons.

GoDog
A training and dog-care app whose developer says the clicker and whistle cost nothing to use. The clicker has three sounds, and the free tier also includes a dozen starter video lessons, a walk tracker and five health reminders. Paid plans open the wider lesson library, and lessons can be watched in AR.
Good for: A free clicker and whistle alongside starter lessons
Keep in mind: Beyond the free tier, lessons need a weekly or annual subscription (3-day trial) or individual lesson packs.

Dog Training Sounds
Less a pure whistle than a small training sound kit: it bundles 50-plus dog sounds, a whistle billed as ultrasonic and more than 45 articles that walk you from first commands to advanced ones. The developer lists it as ad-free, and the free mode works as a sampler of each part.
Good for: Sounds, whistle and tips on a low-cost weekly plan
Keep in mind: Without a subscription you get five sounds, one article and a single whistle use; full access is $0.99 a week.

Dog Whistle & Clicker App
A basic slider-driven whistle with a manual touch mode and a continuous mode where one tap starts the tone and the next stops it. Saved settings sit in a bar for reuse, and extras include a clicker, dog sound clips, a jokey human-to-bark feature and tips on linking whistle patterns to commands.
Good for: A simple adjustable whistle with a clicker on the side
Keep in mind: A weekly ($6.99) or yearly ($19.99) subscription removes ads and unlocks every feature; the listing doesn't say which tools stay free.

Dog Whistle & Dog Clicker App
Built around two tools: a whistle whose pitch you set with a slider, and a clicker with five different click sounds. Handy if you already know the routine of click first, treat right after, and just want both on your phone rather than a full training course.
Good for: Owners who only need a whistle and a clicker
Keep in mind: The developer sells all-access plans and a separate clicker upgrade; the listing doesn't say what stays free.

Dog Whistle & Squeaky Toy
A small, playful kit built around recall: a whistle with a spread of high-pitched tones, some audible to you and some not, plus a clicker for teaching tricks and a board of squeaky-toy noises that's handy for coaxing a head tilt for photos. A built-in guide walks through the whistle routine.
Good for: Recall practice with a free, ad-supported whistle
Keep in mind: Ad-supported; a $2.99 in-app purchase removes the ads.

Questions and answers
Do dog whistle apps actually work?
As a signal, yes: a dog learns that one sound means come back or stop, and a phone tone does that job as well as a metal whistle. What does not exist is a sound that stops barking by itself — a whistle only means something after you pair it with treats.
Is a dog whistle app silent?
No. iPhone speakers stop at about 20 kHz, while a silent whistle works above that, so apps promising 25 kHz or more overstate what the phone can play. Above roughly 16 kHz many adults can barely hear a tone, but children and teenagers often can.
Which whistle frequency should I use?
There is no magic pitch. Pick one pitch and one signal for each command and keep them — consistency matters more than the frequency. Tones around 4–6 kHz are easy for you to hear as well, so you always know the whistle sounded.
Can a dog whistle app stop barking?
Not on its own. A whistle can teach a quiet or stop signal if you reward the silence that follows. Playing a loud tone at a barking dog is not training and can simply stress the dog.
Is Dogo free?
Dogo is free to download, but its developer says a subscription is needed after a 7-day trial. If you only need a whistle and a clicker, Fluier, iTrainer, Dog Whistler and GoDog do that without paying.
Is there a dog whistle app without ads?
Fluier has no ads and needs no account, and GoDog says its whistle and clicker are free. iTrainer and Dog Whistler show ads unless you pay to remove them.
How do I use the Fluier promo code?
Tap Get on the Fluier card. If you are not signed in to AppHunt you will be asked to log in, and the code appears right after. Redeem opens the App Store's own redemption screen with the code filled in.
How is the list ordered?
First place is Fluier, an app made by the AppHunt team, with a promo code. Places 2–10 are ordered by the number of ratings in the US App Store; dog translator prank apps are left out.
