How to add an image to a PDF

A logo, photo or small illustration can make a document complete. Folbrio places an image file on the current PDF page, then lets you adjust its position and size before exporting. It works with your local working copy on iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Insert a new picture

• Open your PDF and navigate to the page where the picture belongs.
• Choose Add image above the PDF.
• Select your image in the system picker. On Mac, choose a file from the folders available to the picker.
• Place the picture on the page, move it into position and resize it using its handles.
• Finish the placement, then export a copy of the PDF.

Add image and Images do different jobs

Add image opens the picker for a new picture. Images is the tool for selecting pictures already in the document. If you choose Images and no file picker opens, that is expected: use Add image to insert a new file.

Move, resize or delete an image

Choose Images and select a supported picture. Drag it into position and use the selection handles to resize it. The available image actions also let you replace, duplicate or remove supported images. Check the selection before deleting, then use Undo if you removed the wrong object.

Some PDFs combine graphics using masks or other structures that are not independently editable. A graphic that looks like one picture may not behave like an ordinary embedded image. If selection is unavailable, describe the document and the behavior to support.

Keep text and images readable

Leave space around your picture and check nearby text at normal reading size. A very small source image can look soft when enlarged. If the image covers content you need, move or reduce it before exporting. Placing an image over text is not secure redaction and should not be used to hide confidential information.

Save and reopen the result

Use Export to choose where the finished PDF is saved. Reopen that file to confirm the image is on the right page and at the intended size. Later edits to the working copy need a fresh export; they do not update a copy that was already sent.
