Best free alternative to TickTick: Handful
TickTick's free plan stops at nine lists of 99 tasks each and two reminders per task, and Premium costs $49.99 a year. Handful, from the AppHunt team, plans your day with time estimates and repeating tasks in a free app with no account and no ads. With the AppHunt promo code you get the full version of Handful for free, for good.
Yes, the TickTick app is free to download and use, but the free plan has caps: nine lists holding up to 99 tasks each, and two reminders per task. Premium raises that to 299 lists of up to 999 tasks and five reminders, and adds the timeline view, filters and AI features. TickTick's site lists Premium at $49.99 a year, and the US App Store shows $49.99 a year or $4.99 a month (US App Store prices on October 30, 2026; they may change).
Is TickTick free?
TickTick says its app is always free, and its pricing page lists a $0 plan next to Premium. That plan includes priorities, tags, subtasks, repeating tasks, comments and task templates, plus basic versions of the calendar views, Eisenhower matrix, widgets, themes and statistics. The limits are numbers: nine lists, each holding up to 99 tasks or notes, 19 checklist items per task, 2 reminders per task, 2 members on a shared list, 5 habits, 5 countdowns and 1 attachment a day. US reviewers in 2026 mostly call the free plan enough for everyday lists. The complaints are the 99-task cap and, from two reviewers in September and October, week and month calendar views that they say need Premium.
How much does TickTick cost?
Premium is the only paid plan. TickTick's pricing page shows $49.99 a year and points out that this works out to under $4.17 a month; the US App Store lists Annual TickTick Premium at $49.99 and Monthly TickTick Premium at $4.99. Premium raises every cap: 299 lists of up to 999 tasks, 199 checklist items per task, 5 reminders per task, 29 members per shared list, 299 habits and countdowns, and 199 attachments a day. It also unlocks task duration, constant reminders, checklist item reminders, list and task activity, filters, the timeline view, integrations, AI features, and unlimited calendar views, matrix, widgets, themes and statistics. Only the owner of a shared list needs Premium. If Premium ends, TickTick keeps your data and the account falls back to the free plan. Reviews from earlier in 2026 quote $3.99 a month and $35.99 a year, so older articles may show lower prices. These are US App Store prices on October 30, 2026, and they may change.

Handful or TickTick: how they compare
Handful, made by the AppHunt team, covers the everyday part of what TickTick does, for free. Type a task the way you'd say it, such as water the plants every Sunday #home ~10m, and Handful turns the words into a repeat, a tag and a time estimate. Today adds up your estimates and says whether the day fits, and at day's end Wrap Up sends whatever is unfinished on to a later day. Projects, reminders, repeating tasks, widgets, a Mac app and iCloud sync are all free, and it can import a TickTick backup with your projects, tags and dates. Handful Plus (shared projects, voice capture, calendar events, Apple Watch) is free with AppHunt's promo code at apphunt.app/app/handful-plus. What Handful doesn't do: it has no habit tracker, countdowns, Eisenhower matrix or Kanban board, and it is Apple-only, so there is no Android, Windows or web version, and anyone you share a project with needs an Apple Account. It also needs iOS 26 or later and is new, with no ratings yet. If you lean on TickTick's habits or switch between Windows and Android, TickTick is still the better fit.

Is TickTick free?

It is capped at nine lists of up to 99 tasks, 2 reminders per task, 5 habits and 5 countdowns, and some features, such as filters, the timeline view, task duration and AI features, need Premium. Many 2026 reviewers say the free plan covers everyday use, though a few run into the 99-task cap.
How much does TickTick cost?
TickTick Premium is $49.99 a year on TickTick's site, which it describes as under $4.17 a month. The US App Store lists the same annual plan at $49.99 and a monthly plan at $4.99. TickTick's education offer takes 25% off the yearly plan, which it puts at $37.99. US App Store prices on October 30, 2026; they may change.
Is there a TickTick promo code?
AppHunt has no promo code for TickTick. TickTick's own ways to pay less are an education offer (25% off one year of Premium for students and educators who apply with a school email and pay on the web) and gift cards, whose redemption code turns into a Premium membership. If a free planner is enough, Handful is free, and AppHunt has a promo code at apphunt.app/app/handful-plus that unlocks Handful Plus.
Does TickTick have a free trial?
TickTick's pricing page, help center and App Store listing don't mention a free trial. Some US reviewers in 2026 say the iPhone app offered one, and one says they were charged the full price right after starting it, so read the purchase screen and set your own reminder to cancel. The free plan has no time limit, so you can also test TickTick for as long as you like before paying.
What does TickTick Premium add?
Higher limits (299 lists of up to 999 tasks, 5 reminders per task, 29 members per shared list and 299 habits), plus task duration, constant reminders, filters, list and task activity, the timeline view, integrations, AI features, and unlimited calendar views, Eisenhower matrix, widgets, themes and statistics. Only the owner of a shared list needs Premium; members on the free plan just can't use its extras.
How do I cancel TickTick Premium?
If you subscribed through the App Store, TickTick can't cancel it for you: open your Apple Account's Subscriptions list, choose TickTick and cancel. If you subscribed on the web, through Stripe, PayPal or Google Play, cancel in the TickTick web app under Settings, then Premium Account. Your data is kept and the account returns to the free plan. Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases, and TickTick refunds other purchases within 14 days.
What do reviews of the TickTick app say?
TickTick has 46,701 ratings averaging 4.9 in the US App Store, and 417 of its 500 newest reviews (March to October 2026) are five-star. People praise the amount you get free, the calendar, habits and focus timer, and its fit for ADHD routines. The complaints are the 99-task cap, features such as constant reminders and calendar views behind Premium, and a few charges after a trial.
What is the best free alternative to TickTick?
If you mainly want a quiet task list that also plans your day, Handful, made by the AppHunt team, is free: quick entry, Today with time estimates, projects, repeats, widgets and iCloud sync, with no account or ads, and it imports a TickTick backup.
