Is Toggl Track free?
Toggl's App Store listing answers the question directly: yes, the iOS app costs nothing to use, and it shows no in-app purchases. The app needs a Toggl account, though, and what you can do in it depends on the plan of the workspace you belong to. On its pricing page Toggl describes the Free plan as free forever but only for a restricted number of users, without saying how many, and says it includes manual and live timers, focus mode, calendar integrations, tasks, boards and estimates, and reports for your own progress. Billable rates and team reports start with the paid Starter plan. The App Store name is now Toggl Track (Legacy), and Toggl's site says current customers of Toggl Track and Toggl Plan can keep using them, with support, while it promotes a newer product simply called Toggl.
How much does Toggl Track cost?
The paid plans are bought on Toggl's website, not through the iPhone app. With yearly billing, Starter is $9 per user a month and Premium is $16; billed monthly they are $12 and $24. Toggl says yearly billing saves up to 33%, and its page shows Premium as four months on us. Starter adds billable rates, timeline views, tags, milestones, paid time off and team reports; Premium adds profitability reports, fixed-fee projects, timesheet approvals, Jira and Asana integrations and single sign-on. Enterprise is custom, and two add-ons are priced per user a month: Time Off Management at $2 and Capacity Management at $5 yearly or $6 monthly. Every paid plan starts with a 30-day trial that Toggl says has no strings attached. These are Toggl's US web prices on November 2, 2026, and they may change.
8hrs or Toggl Track: how they compare
8hrs, made by the AppHunt team, is a free alternative if what you track is your own time on an iPhone. Timers, timesheets, widgets, iCloud sync and CSV import and export cost nothing, with no limit on history, and the app has no account and no ads. You can set a rate for each client or project, mark time as billable, and start the timer from the Lock Screen, a widget, Control Center or Siri. It imports the CSV report you can export from Toggl Track, with projects, clients, tags and rates, so your history can come along. 8hrs Pro adds pay estimates with overtime rules, PDF timesheets, reports by year, client filters and rounding; it costs $19.99 a year with the first week free, $2.99 a month or $49.99 once, and AppHunt has a promo code at apphunt.app/app/8hrs-pro that unlocks it. It is not a team tool. It has no shared workspaces, approvals or capacity planning, no web, Windows or Android version, it needs iOS 26 or later where Toggl Track runs on iOS 17.6, and it is new, released on September 27, 2026, with no ratings yet.
