The app is free to download, but Moongate doesn't say which soundscapes stay free. Its website sells Premium at $9.99 a month, $47.99 a year ($3.99 a month) or $129 once, and the App Store lists yearly plans from $29.99 to $49.99 and monthly at $9.99. These are US prices on November 2, 2026, and they may change.
Is Moongate free?
The app costs nothing to download. Moongate's website and App Store page both say Premium gives full access to premium soundscapes (music, nature and noise), but neither lists what a free account includes, so the free part is unclear. How much does Moongate cost?
Moongate's site says Premium covers the premium soundscapes, a background mode that plays under other apps, subscriber-only releases and what it calls true binaural beats. Its pricing page shows Monthly $9.99, Annual $47.99 (shown as $3.99 a month) and Lifetime $129 once, with a 14-day money-back guarantee on website purchases. The App Store In-App Purchases list shows Premium Monthly at $9.99, Premium Annual at $29.99, $39.99, $47.99 and $49.99, and Premium at $69.99; it doesn't say how those differ. Nod or Moongate: how they compare
Nod, made by the AppHunt team, is a free alternative if you use Moongate mainly to fall asleep. It makes rain, ocean waves, a fan and white, pink and brown noise live on the phone so they never loop, lets you mix sounds, and fades out with a sleep timer, with a gentle alarm for the morning. It also includes binaural beats for headphones. The free version has 22 sounds with no time limit, no ads and no account, and Premium, which adds 34 more sounds and larger mixes, is free with AppHunt's promo code from apphunt.app/app/nod-premium. Nod is not a binaural library. It has no verified frequency collection, no isochronic tones, no Solfeggio tracks and no controls for the intensity of each frequency, and it isn't aimed at focus or meditation music. If those details are why you use Moongate, keep it. Nod is also for iPhone and iPad only.
