Fooducate: is it free, what Fooducate Pro costs and a free alternative

AppHunt has no promo code for Fooducate, but we have one for the alternative below.
Best free alternative to Fooducate: FOOD IQ
Fooducate keeps diet plans, GMO warnings and an ad-free app in Pro, which the US App Store lists from $1.99 to $89.99. FOOD IQ, an AppHunt partner app, logs a meal from one photo and shows the calories for you to confirm, and AppHunt has a promo code that unlocks its paid version. With the AppHunt promo code you get the full version of FOOD IQ for free, for good.
Partly: the Fooducate app is free to download, and its listing says that when a subscription ends you keep the app without the premium features. Food scanning, grades and calorie logging are described without a Pro label; diet plans such as keto, paleo and vegan, health programs, GMO warnings, weekly tips, priority support and no ads need Pro. The US App Store lists Pro at seven prices from $1.99 to $89.99, and the developer's site offers a 3-day free trial. These are US App Store prices on November 2, 2026, and they may change.
Is Fooducate free?
Fooducate's listing describes food and exercise logging, macro counts, a sugar view, tracking for sleep, mood and hunger, a nutrition grade from A to D for each scanned product, healthier swaps and Apple Health sync, and it labels only a few things as premium. It also says some personalization features need a premium account. Its list of what Pro adds names ad removal, so the free version shows ads. Recent US reviews say what is missing: many foods are not found (one reviewer couldn't find a national chain's menu), user-added foods can't be updated, and scanning sometimes sends you to a product website. One reviewer who bought a lifetime membership years ago says everything now sits behind a paywall.
How much does Fooducate cost?
Fooducate's listing says Pro covers keto and low-carb plans, advice for diabetes, kidney disease and heart health, paleo, vegan and vegetarian diets, GMO warnings, weekly health and diet tips, priority support and no ads, and that it comes as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time purchase. A separate Gluten & Allergies add-on covers gluten and ten other allergens, and Diet Kickstart and Pet Food are one-time purchases. The US App Store shows Pro at $1.99, $3.99, $9.99, $29.99, $34.99, $49.99 and $89.99, a PRO Membership at $34.99 and Gluten & Allergies at $2.99 (the page shows ten purchases at a time, doesn't say which is monthly, yearly or one-time, and the other purchases aren't in that view). These are US App Store prices on November 2, 2026, and they may change.

FOOD IQ or Fooducate: how they compare
FOOD IQ, an AppHunt partner app, is an alternative for the calorie side of Fooducate, not for its label grading. You photograph the plate, it names the dish and estimates the portion and the calories, and you confirm or adjust the numbers before anything is saved; a plate with several foods works from one photo. FOOD IQ has paid plans ($9.99 a month, $29.99 or $19.99 a year with a 3-day trial, and a one-time $24.99 purchase in the US App Store), and AppHunt's promo code at apphunt.app/app/ai-food-scanner-food-iq-diet unlocks its paid version, so you can log meals without Fooducate Pro. What FOOD IQ doesn't do is the reason people install Fooducate: its listing mentions no barcode scanner, no A to D grades, no ingredient warnings, no healthier-swap suggestions, no diet programs, no macro or exercise tracking and no sleep or mood log, it is English only, and it has 162 ratings against Fooducate's 77,545. Photo estimates miss oil and sauces, so treat the calories as a guide, not as nutrition advice.

About Fooducate
Fooducate, from Maple Media Apps, LLC, has been in the App Store since November 2010 and has 77,545 ratings averaging 4.6 in the US store. It is built around reading labels: scan a barcode and it grades the product, flags added sugar, sweeteners and other ingredients, and suggests a better pick, alongside a calorie and macro diary. It runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 15.6 or later in 6 languages, and its latest update, version 7.30, came out on October 6, 2026. It suits shoppers who care about ingredient quality more than a calorie total.
