Best free alternative to flowkey: Klavi
flowkey's free account stops at 8 songs and some course exercises; the rest needs Classic or Premium. Klavi, from the AppHunt team, also listens to your own piano and shows each note you play, and its free part holds the Piano Basics course, 11 easy songs and a daily round of each trainer, with no account and no ads. With the AppHunt promo code you get the full version of Klavi for free, for good.
Partly. A free flowkey account never expires and gives you 8 songs and some course exercises, with every learning feature switched on, but the full library needs a paid plan. flowkey's help center gives US examples of $16.49 a month or $99.99 a year for Classic and $24.99 a month or $149.99 a year for Premium. These are US prices on November 2, 2026, and they may change.
Is flowkey free?
flowkey says every sign-up starts as a free account, and nothing forces you to upgrade. It contains 8 songs and a handful of course exercises, and flowkey says all of its learning features work in it, including the loop, hand selection and Wait mode. Its home page invites you to start for free with no obligations. It does not say how many course lessons the free account holds, only that there are some.
How much does flowkey cost?
flowkey sells three plans, billed monthly or yearly. Classic opens every course plus classical pieces and public-domain songs. Premium contains all of Classic and adds pop, rock and jazz, soundtracks from films and games, and ABRSM exam pieces. Family has the Premium catalog with up to five user profiles. The help center lists US examples of Classic at $16.49 a month or $99.99 a year, Premium at $24.99 or $149.99 and Family at $37.49 or $224.99, and says the payment page shows the exact price. The App Store lists its flowkey Classic and Premium in-app purchases at several amounts from $19.99 to $179.99, and the listing does not say which period each covers. flowkey says there is no lifetime plan, and that Classic and Family are sold only in its web app, while Premium is also sold in the App Store and Google Play. Klavi or flowkey: how they compare
Klavi, made by the AppHunt team, does the same core job as flowkey: you play your own acoustic or digital piano or keyboard, and the app hears the notes, through the microphone or over a MIDI cable, and holds the music until you find the correct one. It has six courses with 36 lessons, teaches sheet music from lesson one, lets you slow the tempo and practise each hand alone, and adds Note Sprint plus ear and rhythm trainers. Its free part is the Piano Basics course, the first lesson of every other course, eleven beginner-level songs and a daily round for every trainer, with no account and no ads. Klavi Pro opens the rest; the App Store sells it at $39.99 a year with a 7-day trial, $4.99 a week or $89.99 once, and AppHunt has a promo code that unlocks it at apphunt.app/app/klavi-pro. flowkey is much larger. Klavi has 32 pieces of classical, folk and holiday music, not pop, film and game hits, no video of a pianist, no family plan, no Android or web version and no ratings yet, since it is new. If your goal is a specific pop song, flowkey is still the better fit.

If you want a piano app with a free start, Klavi's free part needs no code, and AppHunt's promo code at apphunt.app/app/klavi-pro unlocks Klavi Pro.
Does flowkey have a free trial?

How do I cancel flowkey?
It depends on where you bought it. For an App Store purchase, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel flowkey there. In the web app, open Settings from the gear icon, then Account. A Google Play purchase can be cancelled only in the Play Store's Subscriptions section. Deleting the app cancels nothing.
What is the best free alternative to flowkey?
For learning on your own piano, Klavi is a free alternative from the AppHunt team. It listens through the microphone or MIDI, pauses on each note until you hit it, and gives you six courses and 32 pieces, with the Piano Basics course and 11 easy songs free and no account. It has fewer songs and no Android version, so flowkey wins on catalog.
