Best free alternative to Clockify: 8hrs
Since April 2026 Clockify's free plan has dropped billable rates and CSV exports, and a report can span only 31 days. 8hrs, from the AppHunt team, tracks your own hours on iPhone with no account and keeps CSV export and history free, and AppHunt has a promo code that unlocks 8hrs Pro. With the AppHunt promo code you get the full version of 8hrs for free, for good.
Yes, Clockify is free: the iPhone app costs nothing to download, and the free plan covers up to five users with unlimited time tracking and projects. Since April 2026 that plan has had limits: a report can span at most 31 days, exports are PDF only, and billable rates, shared reports and the kiosk need a paid plan. Paid plans cost $3.99 to $11.99 per user a month when billed yearly, or $4.99 to $14.99 billed monthly; these are Clockify's US prices on October 30, 2026, and they may change.
Is Clockify free?
Clockify's free plan costs $0 for up to five active users in a workspace, the owner included. It has unlimited time tracking and projects, a timer and timesheets, a calendar, a Pomodoro timer, idle reminders, integrations, team activity and reports, in apps for iPhone, iPad, Android and desktop and on the web. In April 2026 CAKE.com, Clockify's maker, announced that CSV and Excel report exports, shared reports, project estimates, the kiosk and billable hours were moving to paid plans, and that the free plan would be capped: reports cover at most 31 days at a time, every project is public to the workspace, and the API accepts 30 requests an hour. Clockify says existing paid customers weren't affected. If you upgrade, everyone in the workspace needs a paid seat, since the allowance of five free users no longer applies. The iPhone app needs a Clockify account, which you can sign in to with an emailed code, Google, Apple or Microsoft.
How much does Clockify cost?
Clockify's pricing page lists four paid plans in US dollars per user per month, with monthly billing in brackets: Basic at $3.99 ($4.99 if billed monthly), Standard at $5.49 ($6.99), Pro at $7.99 ($9.99) and Enterprise at $11.99 ($14.99), plus a CAKE.com Bundle that adds the Pumble and Plaky apps at $12.99 ($15.99). No plan is called Premium. Basic adds what the free plan lost, billable rates and CSV and Excel exports, along with kiosk, time estimates, bulk edit and import. Standard adds time off, invoicing, approvals, rounding, overtime reports and QuickBooks. Pro adds scheduling, expenses, GPS tracking, budgets and labor cost and profit, and Enterprise adds single sign-on and an audit log. Each active user takes a paid seat, and Clockify doesn't refund canceled subscriptions unless a charge was a system error. The US App Store lists no in-app purchases for Clockify, so plans are bought on its website. These are Clockify's US prices on October 30, 2026, and they may change.
8hrs or Clockify: how they compare
8hrs, made by the AppHunt team, is a free alternative if what you track is your own time on an iPhone. Timers, timesheets, widgets, iCloud sync and CSV in and out cost nothing, with no limit on history and no per-seat price, and the app has no account or ads. You can set a rate per hour for each client or project, flag time as billable, and start the timer from the Lock Screen, a widget, Control Center or Siri. It imports a detailed CSV report from Clockify, with projects, clients, tags and rates, though that is an export Clockify's free plan no longer offers, so you may need a paid plan or Clockify's 7-day trial to get it. 8hrs Pro brings pay estimates with overtime rules, PDF timesheets, reports by year, client filters and rounding ($19.99 for a year, with the first week free, $2.99 for a month, or a one-time $49.99), and AppHunt's promo code at apphunt.app/app/8hrs-pro unlocks it. It is not a team tool: no shared workspaces, approvals, invoicing, time off or scheduling, and no web or Android version. It needs iOS 26 or later, where Clockify runs on iOS 16, and it is new, released on September 27, 2026, with no ratings yet.

Yes. A new workspace starts with a 7-day trial of most paid features and no credit card. When it ends you are moved to the free plan unless you upgrade, and the data you created stays. How do I cancel Clockify?
In the web app, click your workspace name to open its menu, pick Subscription, then the Billing tab, then Cancel subscription. The paid features keep working through the period you have already paid for, then the workspace returns to the free plan and your data stays. Clockify doesn't refund canceled subscriptions unless a charge was a system error, and it doesn't refund seats you remove.
Did Clockify's free plan change?
Yes. CAKE.com announced the changes on April 21, 2026. Existing paid customers weren't affected, and Clockify's help center says a solo user who needs a timer, projects and PDF summaries can stay free. Reviewers from mid-2026 are the ones complaining about lost features.
