70mm Open Source

70mm is built with open-source software. The licenses are also listed in the app under Settings › Acknowledgments.

VLCKit

70mm plays most formats with VLCKit 4, © VideoLAN and contributors, under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1. VLCKit is included as a separate dynamic framework, so it can be replaced with a compatible build of your own.

The exact build 70mm ships is the official VLCKit 4.0.0-a24 release from VideoLAN. Source code: code.videolan.org/videolan/VLCKit. The libraries VLCKit itself is built with, including FFmpeg, dav1d, libass, FreeType, HarfBuzz, FriBidi, libsmb2, libssh2, libnfs, libdvbpsi, Opus, FLAC and zlib, are listed with their own licenses in VLC's contrib folder.

Replacing VLCKit

The LGPL gives you the right to run 70mm with a modified VLCKit. Email support@apphunt.app and we will send the object files needed to relink the app, along with the build instructions, at no charge.
