MouseBridge Support

Updated September 25, 2026

Answers to the questions people ask about MouseBridge, the app that shares one mouse, keyboard and clipboard between Macs. Can't find what you need? Email support@apphunt.app and we'll help.

Installing

Download MouseBridge.dmg, open it and drag MouseBridge onto the Applications folder. If you open it straight from the disk image or from Downloads, MouseBridge offers to move itself to Applications — say yes, so it keeps its permissions.

The beta isn't notarized by Apple yet, so the first time you open it macOS says it can't verify the app. Click Done in that warning — not Move to Trash, which is the highlighted button. Then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway, and confirm with your password. You only do this once per Mac.

Sent MouseBridge to the Trash by accident? Open the Trash, right-click MouseBridge and choose Put Back. Prefer Terminal? xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/MouseBridge.app skips the warning.

Permissions

Accessibility lets MouseBridge take over the cursor at the screen edge and replay your input on the Mac you control. Click Allow… in MouseBridge, then turn MouseBridge on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

Local Network lets your Macs find each other. macOS asks the first time; if you declined, turn it back on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.

After updating MouseBridge, macOS sometimes keeps showing it as allowed while the permission no longer works. Remove MouseBridge from the Accessibility list with the − button and add it again.

Connecting your Macs

  • Type the same network password on every Mac (Settings → General). A Mac with a different password shows up as “wrong password”.
  • Macs on the same network find each other automatically. If yours don't — for example on office Wi-Fi or across subnets — add a Mac by address on the Network tab. MouseBridge uses TCP port 24850.
  • On the Screens tab, drag the computers into the same arrangement as on your desk. The cursor crosses only between Macs that touch on the grid.

Using it

  • Push the cursor past the shared screen edge to move to the next Mac. The keyboard goes with it.
  • Copy on one Mac and paste on another: text, links and images are shared automatically (turn it off in Settings → General).
  • Files too: copy files or folders in Finder, then paste in Finder on the other Mac. Big copies show their progress on screen; up to 4 GB at a time.
  • ⌃⌥⌘H brings the cursor back to the Mac whose keyboard you're using.
  • Moving a Mac's own mouse or trackpad gives control back to that Mac.

Troubleshooting

The cursor went to the other Mac and doesn't come back

Press ⌃⌥⌘H. MouseBridge also brings the cursor home by itself if the other Mac stops answering for three seconds.

The cursor doesn't cross to the other Mac

Check that both Macs show each other as connected on the Network tab, that they touch on the Screens grid, and that Accessibility is allowed on both.

The keyboard stays on this Mac

Another app turned on Secure Input — Terminal's Secure Keyboard Entry or a focused password field. macOS then hides keystrokes from every app, so MouseBridge shows a message and keeps the cursor here. Switch to another app or turn the option off.

I can't type the password on the other Mac's lock screen

macOS only accepts that Mac's own keyboard on the lock screen. Unlock it there, then keep working with the shared keyboard.

Where are the logs?

In ~/Library/Logs/MouseBridge.log, or click Show Log on the Permissions tab. Attach it when you email us.
