Handful Privacy Policy

Updated September 25, 2026

This policy covers the Handful apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, published by Glory Mae Dagapioso.

Handful is built so that your to-dos stay yours. We don't have accounts, we don't track you, and no server stores your data. The one thing that leaves your devices, if you turn it on, is what Della needs to answer you; it's described below.

What we collect

Nothing about you is collected or sold. Handful contains no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking code. The only data that reaches Handful's server is what you send to Della, the assistant in Handful VIP, and it isn't kept (see “Della” below).

Where your data lives

  • On your devices. To-dos, projects, notes, attachments and settings are stored in the app on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.
  • In your iCloud. Handful syncs through Apple's CloudKit, in your own private iCloud database. The developer can't see this data. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Shared projects. When you share a project, the people you invite through iCloud can see and edit that project and its to-dos, notes and attachments. You can stop sharing at any time.

Permissions Handful may ask for

Each is optional and used only for the feature you turn on:

  • Notifications for reminders, and for the morning and evening nudges you can switch off in Settings.
  • Alarms for to-dos you mark to ring as an alarm.
  • Calendars to show your events next to your to-dos. Events are read on your device and never copied or sent anywhere, except the titles and times of that day's events that Della uses when you ask her (see “Della”).
  • Reminders once, when you import from Apple Reminders. Reminders are read on your device.
  • Location for reminders when you arrive at or leave a place. iOS watches the places you pick; Handful doesn't record where you go.
  • Microphone and speech recognition for voice brain dump. Speech is transcribed on your device and the audio is not stored.
  • Photos and files you choose to attach to a to-do. They're stored with that to-do in your iCloud.

Apple Intelligence

Brain dump and step suggestions use Apple's on-device language model when it's available. Your text is processed on your device.

Della

Della is the assistant in Handful VIP, and she is the one part of Handful that runs on a server. When you ask her something, or ask her to plan your day, sort your Inbox or wrap up the day, the app sends her a snapshot: the titles, dates, estimates and the first lines of notes of the to-dos involved, your project and area names, your tags, and the titles and times of that day's calendar events. Handful's server passes this to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude model, to write the reply, and returns the reply to you.

  • Not kept. Handful stores neither the snapshot nor the reply. To apply daily limits without an account, the server keeps a counter under a hashed identifier derived from your subscription, which can't be traced back to you.
  • Not used for training. Neither Handful nor Anthropic uses what you send Della to train models. Anthropic may retain requests for up to 30 days to enforce its usage policies, as described in Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
  • Only when you say so. Della is off until you agree to this the first time you use her, and you can turn her off at any time in Settings. She never changes your to-dos on her own: every suggestion is applied only when you tap it.

Purchases

Handful Plus and Handful VIP are sold through the App Store. Apple processes payment; the developer receives no payment details and no personal information about you. To check that a VIP subscription is active, Handful's server asks Apple about that subscription's transaction, which carries no name or contact details.

Your choices

  • Export everything as Markdown and JSON in Settings, under Your Data.
  • Delete a to-do or project to remove it from all your devices and iCloud.
  • Remove all Handful data from iCloud in iOS Settings, under your name, iCloud, Manage Account Storage.
  • Turn Della off in Handful Settings.

Children

Handful is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
