Cutback

Cutback Support

Updated September 28, 2026

Answers to the questions people ask about Cutback, the subscription tracker for iPhone. Can't find what you need? Email support@apphunt.app.

Add your subscriptions

Tap + on the Today or Subscriptions tab. You can pick a service from the catalog, add one by hand, read them off a screenshot, or find them in a bank statement.

From a screenshot

Subscriptions bought through the App Store never appear separately in a bank feed — Apple bills them all as one line. On your iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and take a screenshot. In Cutback, tap + › Read a screenshot and pick it. The text is read on your iPhone and the image is never uploaded. Anything Cutback couldn't read a price for is still added, so you can fill it in.

From a bank statement

Open your bank or card account on the web, export the last 6–12 months of transactions as CSV, and save it to Files. In Cutback, tap + › Read a statement and pick the file. Cutback looks for charges that repeat on a schedule and shows what it found before adding anything. Six months finds the monthly subscriptions; a full year finds the annual ones, which are the ones people forget.

If Cutback says it can't read the file, export it as CSV rather than PDF or Excel. Each row needs a date, a description and an amount.

Reminders

Cutback sends a notification three days and one day before each charge, with the amount and the date. Change the timing in Settings › Reminders, or set a different lead time for one subscription in its editor. Set a subscription's reminder to Off to stop nudges for that one only.

The notification has an I cancelled it button, which marks the subscription cancelled without opening the app.

If nothing arrives, check that notifications are allowed for Cutback in iOS Settings. Settings › Reminders in the app shows how many are currently scheduled.

Cancelling

Open a subscription and tap Cancel this subscription. For services billed through the App Store this opens the iOS Subscriptions screen; for others it opens that service's own cancellation page. Apple does not allow any app to cancel a subscription on your behalf.

Once it's cancelled, tap I cancelled it — or swipe the row on the Subscriptions tab. The subscription moves to Saved and starts counting what it saves you.

The savings total

The Saved tab adds up what each cancelled subscription would have cost since you cancelled it, and grows every month. Resubscribed to something? Swipe its row and tap Resubscribed to move it back.

Widgets

Touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit › Add Widget and search for Cutback. There are three: the next charge, the week ahead with what's left to pay this month, and what cancelling has saved. The first two also work on the Lock Screen.

Cutback Pro

Cutback Pro is $14.99, paid once. It is not a subscription and it does not renew. It unlocks reading screenshots and statements, the full list of what to cut, and price-rise alerts.

To buy it, open the Today tab and tap Show me what to cut, or go to Settings › Cutback Pro. Changed phones or reinstalled? Tap Restore purchase on the same screen, signed in with the same Apple Account.

Your data

Everything lives in a database on your iPhone. There is no Cutback account and nothing is uploaded. See the privacy policy for the details.
