Chromo
Chromo Privacy Policy
Updated September 30, 2026
Chromo is an iPhone app that removes and replaces the background of photos and videos, with a green screen or with on-device AI. It is built so that your photos, videos and recordings stay on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. Chromo has no account or sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We do not run a server that receives your data, and the app does not upload your photos or videos anywhere.
What stays on your iPhone
- Photos and videos you edit: you pick them with Apple's photo picker, so Chromo sees only the items you choose, never your whole library. A copy is kept inside the app as a project so you can continue editing; delete the project to remove it. Projects are deleted with the app.
- Cut-outs — colour keying and AI (Apple's Vision framework) — are calculated on your iPhone.
- Camera and microphone are used only in the Live camera screen, to show you in front of the background you pick and to record the video you start. Frames are processed on your iPhone; nothing is sent anywhere.
- Saving: finished photos and videos are added to your library only when you tap Save (add-only access).
- Image Playground: if you create a background with Apple's Image Playground, Apple processes that request under Apple's privacy policy; Chromo only receives the finished picture.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details; Apple's privacy policy applies to those transactions. If you start a free trial, Chromo schedules a local reminder on your iPhone one day before it ends.
Children
Chromo does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
