Getting started

Open the Learn tab and start with Em. Tap Next to place one finger at a time, or put them all down, then tap Your turn, allow the microphone and strum all the strings slowly. Use a guitar in standard tuning (E A D G B E); if it sounds off, tune it first.

The microphone check

Clean! means every string of the chord rang. If Campfire names a string, it is muted (a finger touches it, or you didn't press hard enough) or pressed on the wrong fret: press on your fingertips, keep the palm off the neck and strum again.

It doesn't hear me: allow the microphone for Campfire in iOS Settings, play in a quiet room, hold the phone near the guitar and let the chord ring for a moment. Strings an octave above a lower played string can't be told apart, so Campfire never marks those as wrong.

One-minute changes

In Changes, pick two chords with Change, tap Start and switch between them for the whole round, strumming once per chord. Each clean change is counted; your best for each pair is saved. In the … menu you can choose 30 or 60 seconds and switch to Count by tapping.

Strumming and songs

In Strum, pick a pattern, a chord and the tempo, then tap Play along: arrows show down and up strokes, and a click keeps time. In Songs, chords are written over the words; tap the arrows at the top to transpose or start auto-scroll.

Campfire Premium

Campfire is free to download. Em, Am, D and G with the microphone check, the changes drill for them, three strumming patterns and seven songs are free with no limits. Campfire Premium adds the other 21 chords, all 30 songs, every strumming pattern, transposing and the changes history.

Restore a purchase

On a new device or after reinstalling Campfire, tap Restore purchases in Settings or on the Premium screen, using the Apple Account you bought Premium with.

Cancel a subscription

Apple manages subscriptions. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions › Campfire, and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least a day before your subscription renews or your free trial ends to avoid being charged. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. For a refund, contact Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
