Acord Support

Answers to common questions about Acord, the tuner, metronome and pitch pipe for iPhone and iPad. Can't find what you need? Email support@apphunt.app.

Getting started

Open the Tuner tab and allow the microphone. Tap the instrument at the top to choose your instrument and tuning, or choose Chromatic to tune anything. Play one string at a time and let it ring.

The tuner

Reading the needle: left of centre (amber) means flat — tune up; right of centre (red) means sharp — tune down. Inside the green window the note is in tune, and the string gets a check.

Auto or a picked string: in Auto Acord finds the string you play. Tap a string to hear its note and tune only that one; tap Auto to go back. Octave strings of doubled courses (bouzouki, 12-string guitar, bağlama) are recognised as their course.

Strobe: the stripes drift left when flat, right when sharp, and stand still in tune.

Reference pitch: change A4 in Settings (415–466 Hz). Most music uses 440 Hz; many orchestras use 442 or 443 Hz.

Note names: choose C D E, Do Re Mi, or German names with H in Settings. Do-Re-Mi uses the octave numbers of France, Italy and Spain (La3 = 440 Hz).

The metronome

Turn the dial or use the buttons to set the tempo, or tap Tap in time with the music. Choose the time signature, the subdivision and the sound at the top. Tap a beat light to switch it between accent, normal and silent. The speed trainer raises the tempo every few bars; the practice timer stops the metronome when the time is up. The metronome keeps playing with the screen locked.

Tones and drones

The Tones tab plays a steady note: pick it on the keyboard, set the octave, and add the fifth for a fuller drone. Singers and string players use a drone to hear their intonation. The tuner waits while a drone or the metronome is playing, so it hears only your instrument.

Siri and Control Center

Say “Start the metronome in Acord” or “Open the tuner in Acord”. To add the Tuner and Metronome buttons to Control Center or the Lock Screen, edit Control Center and search for Acord.

Acord Premium

Acord is free to download. The chromatic tuner, standard guitar, bass, ukulele and violin tuning, the metronome and the pitch pipe are free with no limits. Acord Premium adds every other instrument and tuning, strobe mode, any reference pitch, accents, triplets and sixteenths, the speed trainer and practice timer, four more metronome sounds, the warm and organ tones, and drones with a fifth.

Restore a purchase

On a new device or after reinstalling Acord, tap Restore purchases in Settings or on the Premium screen, using the Apple Account you bought Premium with.

Cancel a subscription

Apple manages subscriptions. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions › Acord, and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least a day before your subscription renews or your free trial ends to avoid being charged. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. For a refund, contact Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Troubleshooting

The tuner doesn't react: allow the microphone for Acord in iOS Settings, and stop the metronome or drone — the tuner waits while they play.

The note jumps around: play one string at a time, let it ring, and mute the others. Noise and other instruments nearby confuse any tuner.

A low bass string reads the wrong string: tap that string to pick it by hand.

No metronome sound: turn the volume up; the sound plays through connected Bluetooth speakers or headphones.
