Pattern matrices
Find the rule, complete the grid
Raven-style matrices are the heart of fluid-reasoning tests. Each row and column follows a rule; pick the piece that fits. Difficulty rises from level 1 to 5 inside every block.
IQ test for iPhone
Thirty questions in five timed blocks, the same kinds used in professional assessments: pattern matrices, number series, mental rotation, figural logic and working memory. You see your IQ, your percentile and where you stand on the bell curve as soon as you finish. No e-mail, no ads, no account.

Most IQ apps ask twenty minutes of your time and then charge to show the number. Quotient shows it for free, and tells you how precise it is.

Always one right answer
Quotient generates each question from the rule behind it, so there is exactly one correct option — no typos, no disputed answers. The wrong options are systematic (a mirror image, one attribute off), and every retake is a fresh test, not the same thirty questions again.
Honest results
Your IQ is shown on the standard scale (mean 100, SD 15) with your percentile, your band and a 95% confidence interval. The bell curve shows exactly how many people you scored above.
Five domains
Patterns, numbers, spatial rotation, figural logic and working memory each get their own block. With Pro you see your profile across all five and an explanation for every answer.

Quotient is free to download, with no ads. Quotient Pro is $4.99 a week, $29.99 a year with a 3-day free trial, or $19.99 once for life. Prices are in US dollars.

The full test is 30 questions with a 20-minute clock. The quick test is 12 questions in 7 minutes, a rougher estimate (±10 points instead of ±6).
Harder questions are worth more. Your weighted share of correct answers is converted to the standard IQ scale, where the average is 100 and the standard deviation is 15, and your percentile comes from the normal distribution. Every score is shown with a 95% confidence interval.
No. It is a self-assessment for personal interest and entertainment, built from the same kinds of non-verbal items used in professional tests. It is not a clinical instrument and does not replace a test given by a psychologist.
The questions are non-verbal — shapes, numbers and patterns — so the test is the same for everyone, whatever language you speak.
Yes. Every question is generated from a rule, so each retake is a new test. Quick tests are always free; unlimited full tests are part of Pro.
