Backups and moving to a new iPhone
- Your iPhone backup already includes Onda. When you set up a new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup, or with Quick Start, your journal comes along. There is nothing to do in the app.
- An extra copy, any time: Me › Your data › Export backup saves your whole journal as a file — keep it in Files, iCloud Drive or on your computer. The file is not password-protected, so store it somewhere private.
- Restore a backup file: Me › Your data › Restore from backup, then pick the file. This replaces everything currently in Onda with the backup.
- From Apple Health: Me › Apple Health › Import history brings back periods, spotting, tests, cervical mucus, sexual activity and basal temperature — but not moods, notes or tags. For everything, use a backup file.
- Onda has no account and no cloud sync, so we cannot restore data for you. Export a backup before you delete the app or reset your iPhone.
Apple Health
- Turn it on: Me › Apple Health › Sync with Apple Health, then allow the data types you want. From then on, what you log in Onda is also written to Health.
- Bring in your history: Me › Apple Health › Import history reads the last three years from Health — for example from Apple’s Cycle Tracking or another app. What you already logged in Onda stays as it is; Health only fills the gaps.
- Nothing imported? iOS asks for permission only once. Open the Health app › your profile picture › Apps › Onda, turn on the data types, then import again. iOS doesn’t tell apps which types you allowed, so Onda can’t show it.
- Turn it off: switch off Sync with Apple Health. Data already in Health stays there; you can delete it in the Health app (your profile picture › Apps › Onda › Delete All Data from “Onda”).
- Onda never sends Health data anywhere and never uses it for advertising.
How accurate are the predictions?
- Onda predicts your next period from your own cycles — recent ones count most — and shows a range, like “likely Oct 3–5”. The range narrows as you log more cycles.
- The fertile window and ovulation are estimates: Onda counts back from your predicted period (a 13-day luteal phase by default) and adjusts when positive LH tests or a rise in basal temperature (or in the Apple Watch wrist temperature, with Health sync on) show when you likely ovulated.
- Even regular cycles vary, and calendar-based estimates often miss the actual day of ovulation by a few days. Ranges are wider — and estimates less reliable — with irregular cycles, PCOS, after stopping hormonal contraception, after giving birth, while breastfeeding and in perimenopause. While you use hormonal contraception, Onda hides fertile-day estimates.
- Never use Onda to prevent pregnancy. It is not contraception, and there are no “safe days”.
- Onda points out cycles worth mentioning to a doctor — for example very short or very long cycles, long periods, bleeding between periods or no period for 90 days. That is a prompt to ask, not a diagnosis.
- Tip: mark the first day of every period (Today › Period started today, or Calendar › Edit period days). Predictions rely on it most.
Deleting your data
- Everything in Onda: Me › Your data › Delete all data erases every log, setting and prediction on this iPhone. It can’t be undone — export a backup first if you might want it back.
- Deleting the app also removes its data from this iPhone.
- Apple Health: what Onda wrote to Health stays there. Delete it in the Health app › your profile picture › Apps › Onda › Delete All Data from “Onda”.
- Backup files you exported: delete them where you saved them.
- Older iPhone backups keep a copy until they are replaced or deleted (iCloud backups are listed under Settings › your name › iCloud).
- On our side there is nothing to delete — no account, no server. If you e-mailed us, ask and we will delete the conversation.
Onda Pro: subscriptions, restore, cancel
- Free, with no time limit: logging, predictions, the calendar and cycle history, all goal modes, reminders, widgets, Siri, Apple Health, backups and partner sharing.
- Onda Pro adds your patterns, temperature and LH charts, the doctor PDF report and unlimited assistant questions. Plans: yearly (with a 7-day free trial where offered), monthly, or lifetime (pay once). Prices in your currency are on the Pro screen.
- Restore on a new iPhone: Me › About › Restore purchases, or Restore on the Pro screen, signed in with the same Apple Account. Family members can use Pro through Family Sharing.
- Cancel: iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Onda › Cancel Subscription, at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Pro stays until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel.
- Free trial: cancel during the trial and you won’t be charged. Onda reminds you two days before the trial ends, if notifications are allowed.
- Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Purchase not showing? Check that you are signed in to the same Apple Account and tap Restore purchases. With Ask to Buy, Pro appears once the purchase is approved.
The private assistant
- “Ask about your cycle” on the Today tab runs on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence. It needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro or newer) with iOS 26 or later, and Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings.
- It answers in the languages Apple’s on-device model supports and in English otherwise. Three questions are free; Onda Pro makes them unlimited.
- Everything else in Onda works on any iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
Face ID lock and discreet mode
- Me › Privacy › Lock with Face ID or passcode asks for Face ID or your passcode when you open Onda or come back to it.
- Discreet notifications keep words like “period” and “ovulation” out of notifications and widgets.
- “Where your data lives”, in the same section, sums up Onda’s privacy on one screen. The details are in our Privacy Policy.
